Mayo Clinic's FAQ flyer also says schedules often book several months out. The apply page says clinical calendars may be full for the next three months. "How long" includes the wait for a date, along with the days on campus.

What actually consumes the day

Most of those hours go to moving between departments and to interpretation, with testing spread across several rooms.

A typical published sequence, based on Mayo Clinic FAQ materials and Cleveland Clinic exam descriptions:

History and a complete physical with the coordinating physician.
Agreement on the standard protocol plus anything added for you.
Testing in different departments. Labs, cardiac evaluation, vision, hearing, and breathing tests show up on Cleveland's may-include list, which is specific to that program.

Compared with a standard annual physical

A standard annual physical is a single office appointment for history, vitals, and selected prevention. An executive physical stretches testing and consults across the hospital's published window: about six to eight hours for Cleveland Clinic, or 1 to 3 days for Mayo Clinic. Travel time is part of the cost in days

A six-to-eight-hour exam in another city takes more of your week than the hours on the itinerary. Count:

Travel each way
A possible extra day for colonoscopy or imaging
Months of lead time for a campus appointment
A local follow-up visit after you get home, because Mayo Clinic requires a local primary care clinician and does not provide around-the-clock membership access
